Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your emails, cards, notes, prayers and your presence at Lawrence`s memorial service. No words can tell you how much it means to all of the family to have you being out there for us. These have been difficult times. Yet in the evenings when we pray together, we can only feel that we are very blessed; blessed by God to have a husband and father like Lawrence, blessed by God`s grace to provide us with our needs, blessed to have friends and family coming to our help. Some old friends of more than three generations of friendship, some friends we barely knew, they have come with love, with care, with expertise, with help. They have straightforward words and with good intentions. We are truly humbled. We can only say that God has sent us angels. The way is long and the obstacles are many, but we believe as we trust in the Lord, leave our burdens to Him, everyday He carries us through. The footprints in the sand are His. We are being carried with our pain and sorrow. It is only God`s love and your prayers that have sustained us, given us peace and serenity in our hearts and courage to look up and ahead.

The mystery of life and death is beyond our understanding. It is in the hands of God. We know what Lawrence did was out of love, love for his family, his colleagues, the tens of thousands workers whose livelihood depends on the success of the projects and also for his honor and integrity which is so much a part of his person. When time goes by, we may all understand gradually why such a major sacrifice was made.

With the grace of God we try to bear the loss. We are standing close as a family, working together. Children grew up overnight, shouldering responsibility, learning fast. It is a miracle that we meet the tragedy head on and move on.

I traveled to Ho Chi Minh City in October to attend a preliminary meeting of “Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Foundation”. The Foundation is to do work in the fields of education for needy and deserving children and to give back to the society of Vietnam.

On November 4th, we dedicated the new office building of our Vietnam joint-venture company, Phu My Hung, to be the “Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Building”. Many officials, friends and colleagues and even Saigon South residents came.

We are currently building a website under “www.lawrenceting.com”. If you shall click on it, possibly in December, you will learn more about Lawrence, the work he did and about the projects.

We are in good health and working very hard. We are holding up and we are coping. The children have been phenomenal. They give me and one another love and support. In them I see hope and the future. With God`s grace, we shall see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I think of each and everyone of you with a thankful heart. May God`s grace and God`s peace be with you everyday of your life.

Sincerely,
Sylvia Tsong-ching Fei Ting
